Spice Village was founded in 2018 as a Berlin based E-Commerce company with a retail store in Berlin. We aim to provide international food to the Indian and Asian population in Germany and Western Europe. Our brand is driven by rewarding loyalty and referral; we have grown exponentially over the last 3 years and the growth does not stop here.

What you can expect in this role

• Your responsibility lies in moving our current online shop(in Shopify) to Magento 2 for Germany, Austria, BeNaLux and France.
• You will be involved in the entire process from conceptualization to implementation in order to make our systems and architecture future-proof, user-friendly and to ensure a high-performance
• As the development specialist, you work in a committed team with great colleagues focusing on e-commerce, user experience and product management
• You will be our first inhouse developer and thus have a lot of freedom in how to structure and design the development framework
• Youre able to guarantee high code quality and work with test driven development
• You can actively drive our business by bringing in your own ideas; in particular regarding system improvement, development methods and agile development processes
• You are able to develop themes and plug ins from scratch

Your essential experience and education

• Minimum 3 years experience in building high-quality Magento Websites
• Strong knowledge of PHP and JavaScript
• Experience with e-commerce and shop systems in the backend and ERP systems
• Experience in implementing A/B and Split URL tests in VWO or Optimizely is of advantage
• Proficiency in English
• Completed degree in computer science or comparable qualification
