Roles and Responsibilities

Experience: 1-3 Year

Role: The primary function will be the execution of test scripts, entering defects and regressing the defects on subsequent builds. This is a junior QA position within the engineering department. The individual will have basic grasp of computer and software environments and a strong desire to rapidly learn new skills.

Entry Criteria: • Basic knowledge of software engineering principals and practices. • Fundamental understanding and practical experience of programming (shell script or highlevel languages). • Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and office applications. • Working knowledge of networking infrastructures and technologies. • Working understanding of SQL databases and queries. • Basic understanding of product software development and defect lifecycles. • Ability to detect and report defects into a defect-tracking system. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities: • Regular attendance during core business hours. • Maintain a positive working attitude. • Research and understand the corporate products and technology range. • Learn product functionality and architecture in their assigned areas. Actively works towards gaining expert understanding of the assigned product area and how customers use it. • Start to learn the functionality of other product areas, particularly those that are integrated with assigned areas. • Must work well with all project team members: Product Manager, Dev Lead, Developers, QA Lead/Manager, other QA. Promote a team environment. • Must attend meetings schedule by QA Lead/Manager and any other project related meetings, such as demo, reviews, etc. • Effectively communicate testing status, risks, and issues to QA Lead/Manager so it can be accumulated into the overall QA status report produced for the Product Manager. • Execute testing assignments under the direction from the QA Lead/Manager or other senior QA engineers. • Ability to find and report defects in a timely manner. Defect reports are detailed and 100% accurate. No defects are returned for more information or because they are not reproducible.
